Dr. Layla Arab, DDS MS MSD

Dr. Layla Arab is a dual-trained periodontist and oral and maxillofacial surgeon with over 20 years of combined clinical and academic experience in oral surgery and implant dentistry. She currently serves as part-time Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Washington, a role she has held since 2016. She also served as part-time Affiliate Faculty in the Department of Periodontics and Endodontics at the University at Buffalo, New York, during the 2024–2025 academic year. Earlier in her career, Dr. Arab held a Clinical Assistant Professor position in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Damascus Hospital from 2005 to 2013.
Dr. Arab earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Damascus University and completed her Master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2003. She further advanced her expertise by obtaining certification from the German Board of Oral Implantology (DGZI) in Bern in 2008. She later pursued advanced graduate studies in Oral Sciences and earned a Certificate in Periodontics from the University at Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Arab has been recognized for her excellence in teaching with multiple honors from the University of Washington, including the Outstanding Affiliate Faculty Award (2019) and the Hungate Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence (2020). She also received second place in the International Team for Implantology (ITI) Poster Competition in 2022.
She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the International Team for Implantology, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Academy of Osseointegration.
Dr. Arab is committed to delivering evidence-based care in oral surgery and periodontics, with a strong focus on excellence in patient outcomes at Pacific Northwest Periodontics.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Arab enjoys playing tennis, listing to music, and exploring the outdoors with her son Moh and their baby fur Lex.
