Pacific Northwest Periodontics has been providing exceptional periodontal and implant care in the Seattle area for over 10 years. Treating periodontal disease both surgically and non-surgically, Drs. Rapoport and Schuler are dedicated to helping patients achieve their best smile while preventing the development of serious health conditions.
With over 30 years of dental experience, they share a unique blend of professional credentials. Unlike the majority of local periodontists, both Dr. Rapoport and Dr. Schuler practiced general dentistry for many years before entering a 3 year periodontal program. Their extensive education and commitment to the field of periodontics is ongoing, along with their reputation among peers as master skilled professionals.

Dr. Darrin A. Rapoport, BDS, MSD
Dr. Rapoport attended the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and after graduating in 1990, practiced general dentistry for 6 years. In 1996, Darrin and his wife Pam relocated to Seattle where he received his Masters of Science in Dentistry from the University of Washington and completed 3 years of highly specialized periodontal and implant training.
Dr. Rapoport is licensed to practice in Washington State and internationally, in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia. He is a board certified Periodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the highest honor awarded in his field. He is an active member of multiple organizations including the Seattle-King County Dental Society, the Washington State Society of Periodontists, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the Academy of Osseointegration. In addition, he regularly lectures at national and international events and has been published multiple times.
In 2001 Dr. Rapoport joined Pacific Northwest Periodontics and purchased the practice two years later. He and his team are committed to providing exceptional periodontal and implant dentistry care.
Dr. Rapoport is regarded as a local dental expert, contributing to several KOMO NewsradioLifebeat segments and appearing on KOMO 4, KING 5’s Health Link, and KCPQ 13. He has also been featured in South Sound Magazine's Doctors Making A Difference edition and been recognized as a Top Periodontist four years in a row by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine.
Dr. Ralf F. Schuler, DR, MED, DENT, MSD
Dr. schuler is an affiliate Associate Professor at the UW and has been lecturing nationally and internationally including McGill University, Arizona Dental Conference, Gnathologischer Artbeitskreis, and Stuttgart.
Dr. Schuler graduated in 1991 with his dental degree from the University of Erlangen in Nuremberg, Germany. Following graduation, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Prosthodontics department at the University of Cologne. After successfully defending his Dr. Med. Dent. thesis, Dr. Schuler left academia to practice general restorative dentistry in Erlangen. 6 years later he relocated to Seattle and began 3 years of highly specialized periodontal and implant training at the University of Washington. After graduation in 2003, Dr. Schuler was selected to be an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the department of Graduate Periodontics at the University of Washington.
Dr. Schuler is licensed to practice in Washington State and Germany. He is a board certified Periodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the highest honor awarded in his field. Dr. Schuler has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and is currently lecturing at national and international events. Dr. Schuler joined Pacific Northwest Specialists in Periodontics & Dental Implants in 2003. His extensive education and commitment to the field of periodontics is ongoing. Recognized as one of the best in his field, Dr. Schuler continues to set the bar for periodontal treatment and preventative services both in the United States and abroad.
